Leeds born John is a renowned civic architect and has worked on prestigious projects including Leeds City Art Gallery and the £12 million creation of Millenium Square.

Educated at the Liverpool School of Architecture, John has worked for Leeds City Council for more than 35 years and during that time has been instrumental in the development od major civic buildings including Leeds Town Hall, the City Library, Victoria Gardens and the renewal of green spaces in the City. John also sits on the CABE Design Review Panel, the Yorkshire Forward Renaissence Programme and 'Concourse' - a group established to encourage an understanding of the interdependence of art, design and construction in the built environment.

The current 'MAPPING' exhibition explores the nature of Leeds in the 21st century and its challenges in retaining its long standing history.
